The production of the WP6a flexible Superconducting Link cryostats has been successfully completed. This accomplishment marks a crucial milestone, with ten series units ready for deployment. The production took place at Cryoworld, in The Netherlands. The company had already taken part in a previous development campaign, launched by WP6a, aiming at demonstrating the feasibility of long (~ 100 m) and flexible cryostats with low static heat lead at helium temperature (4.5 K to 20 K). This activity culminated with the measurement of the Demo 1 and Demo 2 cold powering systems.
CERN, in collaboration with Cryoworld, has ensured the timely production of these cryostats. The ten units, comprising 5 for the HL-LHC Triplets and 5 for the HL-LHC Matching Sections, are now available and have undergone thorough quality assurance (QA) checks.
This achievement signifies the successful culmination of the second WP6a series contract, with the first being the production of MgB2 wire at ASG. A pivotal step in the progress of the HL-LHC project!
